“Visually challenged can do what the sighted can and also what the sighted
cannot”, is a shibboleth that prompts one and all to do all within their
power to tap the potentials of the visually challenged to the utmost. Taking
cue from this impetus
NAB P. & N. M. Rehab Centre for the
Blind took up on its shoulders the onus to bring out the fullest from the
visually challenged of the nation, so with a missionary zeal, the centre set
out in 1967 on the arduous journey, with the following ,
AIMS AND OBJECTS :
A).
To assist the blind in adjusting to their handicap.
B).
Restore their shattered confidence.
C.)
To train them in the skills necessary for their daily living.
D)
To
take steps to educate the visually impaired.
E.)
To develop their personality
F.)
To help them to achieve a rightful place in society.
G.) To
help persons who are totally blind or visually handicapped/low vision
to acquire literacy and industrial knowledge and training, to help them in
obtaining suitable employment and to conduct research for resettling the
blind economically, physically, and socially.
H.)
To
build up and augment facilities for recreation of the blind in
co-operation
with the sighted where they can socially meet and
talk
,play
games
and have
debates, musical and dramatic performances or any other extra curricular
activities.
I.)
To promote, establish and maintain a Braille/Talking Book & Ink Print
library
for the blind.
J.)
To work towards the rehabilitation of blind in particular and other
categories of disabled persons in general.
K.) To
do all such lawful acts, deeds or things as are incidental or conducive
to the attainment of the above aims and objectives. |
